WORLD-KNOWN ALPINISTS STEVE SWENSON AND GRAHAM ZIMMERMAN VISIT OUR HOSPITAL PROJECT

After doing the first Ascent of Link Sar in Pakistan Steve Swenson and Graham Zimmerman visited the hospital of our partner Capt. Muazzam Ali Shaheed Welfare Trust on August 27, 2019 and spent 4-5 hours in meeting the staff, the management, and patients in various departments.

Before they left for Islamabad on way back to USA, they wrote the following comments in the Guest Book

We greatly enjoyed our visit to the Captain Muazzam Ali Shaheed Welfare Hospital. It is a well-run, clean hospital with the capability to serve patients with a variety of needs. The hospital provides a great service to patients in financial need and for those in greatest need the hospital will waive all their fees. Thanks for all the work you are doing for the people of this district.

Graham Zimmerman:

Our visit to the hospital was very enjoyable and informative. The staff was very knowledgeable and kind. We were also very impressed with the facilities + technology + cleanliness.

I feel that it is very important that hospitals like this exist in Pakistan and appreciate all the excellent work going into this hospital.

Steve is climbing for 48 years.  Over 20 expeditions to mountains in South Asia, Steve has made ascents of the North Ridge of K2 and the North Ridge of Everest solo – both without supplementary oxygen, and Link Sar in August 2019.  In 2012 he and his partners made the first ascent of Saser Kangri II (7518 meters) – the second highest unclimbed mountain in the world for which they were awarded the prestigious Piolet d Or.  He is a past president of the American Alpine Club. He worked as a consultant for 35 years to municipalities and counties on engineering, design, project management, utility finance, and policy making projects related to water and sanitation.  He has written articles on Climbing Rock and Ice for Alpinist magazines as well as the American Alpine Journal.  He has written articles in various publications. He is also the author of a book on the Karakoram.
